DeepL

Translate text and documents, then check terminology, numbers, and meaning with a bilingual reviewer before using the result.

Where DeepL fits

DeepL provides text and document translation. The useful starting question is not whether a translation sounds polished, but whether it preserves the meaning of your particular source material. Check the current language and document options in the official translator before preparing a large batch.

A practical translation check

Use a short, representative sample containing a product name, a measurement, a negative statement, and a sentence whose meaning depends on context. Keep the original beside the translation. Ask a bilingual reviewer to flag changed obligations, missing qualifications, and inconsistent technical terms rather than simply grading fluency.

For example, a support article saying a setting is not available on every plan should not become a promise that it is included. Record preferred translations for recurring product terms before translating the rest of the help center. Recheck the same terms after revising the English source.

For documents, inspect tables, captions, footnotes, and page breaks in the downloaded file. A readable preview does not establish that the final file will survive your publishing workflow.

When a different workflow is better

A short internal message and a customer contract should not have the same approval process. Use qualified human translation or review when errors could change legal obligations, safety instructions, or medical meaning. Do not upload confidential files until the applicable plan's data handling terms have been approved by your organization.

Compare alternatives using the same passage and target language. Measure the corrections needed to reach an acceptable result, not just time to first output. This is a suggested evaluation method, not an independent accuracy benchmark or an endorsement of a particular language pair.
