Do not start a new app workflow

OpenAI's discontinuation notice says Sora's web and app experiences ended April 26, 2026. It separately schedules the API shutdown for September 24, 2026. At this check, the API date was upcoming, not already past.

Prioritize existing assets

Follow the official export instructions and verify the downloaded files. Keep prompts, original uploads, and project notes with exported media so unfinished work can be assessed independently of the old service.

Inventory dependencies

For an API integration, identify jobs and downstream applications relying on Sora. Test alternatives against actual duration, aspect ratio, and review requirements. Do not assume another service reproduces previous outputs or accepts identical requests. This page preserves context for existing links without recommending a new subscription to the discontinued consumer app.
